About the Inspector
David has documented experience in the building trades dating back to 1994. He began his career by becoming and being gainfully employed as a licensed union electrician. Although his main focus has been on electricity in the home and commercial settings, he is also skilled in home building, roofing, home remodeling and additions. One of the homes pictured on this website was built by David in 2006. David is a Certified Home Inspector and is diligent in keeping up-to-date with continued education as new technologies are being introduced into our lives and homes. He inspects each home as if it were his own. He is able to determine the current condition, any defects, near future repairs and most importantly, any safety issues.
What Makes A Great Home Inspector?
Many of today’s home inspectors come into the home inspecting business with limited or absolutely no residential construction background and years spent in unrelated trades/occupations. For a few thousand dollars and training lasting from a couple of weeks to a couple of months of study, you are then able to become certified and are now a home inspector.
This may sound frightening when you consider the tens of thousands of dollars of your hard earned money that is riding on your home inspector’s knowledge and expertise.
As an informed buyer you need to know that the home inspector you choose has the right background, we can all say we have taken the certification courses. If you need dental work done, would you choose the person who just got his certifications or the guy that has his certifications backed by over 20 years of experience and an actual license? Anybody can read about how stuff basically works, that cant be replaced by years of hands on experience.
It’s the rare combination of expert construction experience and years of resident inspections as well as continuing education that keeps him or her up to speed with the ever-changing technology. David Millard from Millard Home Inspections brings these qualities to the table and here’s how:
- ASHI Certified Home Inspector
- InterNACHI Certified Home Inspector
- SCAR Associate Member
- Over 20 years of construction experience
- Licensed Union Electrician
- Home Builder
- Remodeling and Additions
- Educated in Electrical Engineering at Stark State College
GREAT BUILDERS MAKE GREAT HOME INSPECTORS
We cannot minimize the importance of prior experience in the construction industry in the process of molding great home inspectors. After twenty plus years of hands-on experience, the exact nature of a home’s construction and of its eventual breakdown is second nature to David. This not only assures you a top quality home inspection but David also offers his personal value-add-advice on repairs, approximate pricing, and real customer advocacy – you’ll find immensely valuable. While book educated home inspectors repeatedly defer their customers to “call a qualified ‘<tradesman’s name here>’, for prices and information”, the Millard Home Inspection customer already has that information (and no doubts on the quality of their inspectors knowledge). In short, this is what makes the difference between an average home inspector and a great home inspector. It could make thousands of dollars in difference to you.
